Role reports to:  General Manager, who in turn reports to the CEO

  • Specifically focused on copper, this excellent position is responsible for maintaining current supplier relationships and acquiring new business in an effort to fulfill company volume requirements at appropriate margins.
  • Required to visit facilities of current and prospective suppliers such as demolition contractors, scrap dealers, industrial sources, auto wreckers, and construction projects.
  • Represents the point person for the organization, and communicates with facility managers so that purchases are consistent with production requirements.
  • Required to focus on prospecting, developing and building customer/supplier relationships and negotiating prices/contracts that build, grow, and retain the supplier/volume base.
  • Required to understand costs associated with non-ferrous materials, current market conditions, freight costs, and processing costs in order to provide optimum pricing to the supplier.
  • Gathers appropriate information about the local market for raw material concerning cost trends and availability of supply.
  • College Degree is preferred, or 3-years’ experience in the scrap business, preferably in procurement and purchasing, is desirable.
